Glacier Erratic: Split Rock in the Spring

In thinking about the glacier erratics in Calgary I was looking at the Nosecreek split rock in the spring, and I was struck by the difference between the grass nearby, still brown, and the lushness of the valley below and behind the rocks - a striking young spring green. I suppose you could say this image has two splits. 

This is an 8 x 10 oil painting done on a primed canvas panel. I use Kama paint which is produced in Quebec and uses walnut oil.
