North Glenmore Cactus Powerlines

This 6 x 8" pencil and pastel drawing on a 12 x 9" Fabriano paper looks east along the road leading into North Glenmore Park. This was from a series of photos I took in January 2021. We had just had a cold snap over winter break, and the guidance at the time was to skip family gatherings. I was hopeful the cold was cold enough to really zap away the virus but of course that was wishful thinking. The weather had warmed up enough to venture out for longer periods and this was a nice sun filled trek. The skating rinks were packed and maybe this felt a bit like the festive experience we had missed. Even though it is mid-day, the shadows are long from the sun, low in the horizon to the south. I don't quite know why the power lines have such fun curves, but in the distance you can see the usual skeletal frame.
