Bowness Island Stoney Trail Overpass

This titanic overpass dominates above some older riverside softwoods along the bow. To the left, the conifer covered south ridge of the Bow. Late season snow covers the ground which dominated by the shadow of the ridge. Shadows are long even in late morning, and the light on the concrete of the overpass is warm. Bowness Park has many picture friendly corners, but this scene is the one that I had to paint first. 

This is an 8 x 10 oil painting done on a primed canvas panel. I use Kama paint which is produced in Quebec and uses walnut oil.
