Making work on computers has been part of my practice for over 20 years. I've exhibited digital prints in Chicago, Banff, Lethbridge, and Calgary. The quality of the prints, the archival pigments, purpose made paper have really elevated the output that can be achieved.
Making prints from traditional paintings hasn't been a direction I've taken. The act of making work physically, photographing it, then printing it via digital means feels different than producing work digitally and giving it physical form. I've observed many artists create limited edition works that are digital, but this is an artificial scarcity. Limited editions were a necessity of physical printing methods like etching, where the printing plate would decay. It's also a mechanism to increase pricing.
I explored several producers in the city for making these prints. The quality is unbelievable, and the colours are a perfect match for the work that's been created. I'm really excited to share this work, which includes some of the best images I've produced in the last decades.
